My movie review for this week will be the film Lady Bird, starring Saoirse Ronan, Laurie Metcalf, Timothee Chalamet and many more. The movie centers around Christine "Lady Bird" McPherson, a senior in high school who is planning her future during the year 2002. Lady Bird's family isn't wealthy like the other families around them, which is hard for Lady Bird to take into consideration when she is applying to colleges out of state. She dreams of getting out of her hometown of Sacramento, California and going to New York City for college. Her mother is totally against the idea of her leaving and of spending a lot of money for her to go to college. Lady Bird goes to a Catholic high school in Sacramento. She disagrees with the school's message but still befriends a nun during her senior year. Lady Bird makes a lot of friends and loses a lot of friends during her senior year. The movie shows the normal everyday struggles of a teenage girl. I found Lady Bird to be a very relatable character and I loved her. I would recommend this movie to anyone because it is such a fun movie. I would give this movie an 8/10.

My Friend Dahmer is a film adaptation of the comic book styled novel of the same name, starring Ross Lynch as Jeffrey Dahmer and Alex Wolff as his high school friend, Derf. This movie is a true story told by Derf. He recounts the times he spent with Dahmer and how he acted throughout high school and before he killed seventeen people. The movie begins with Dahmer watching a jogger intensely through a bus window on his way home from school. When he gets home from school every day, he goes into his family's shed which he calls "the lab" and dissects animals, often putting roadkill in acid so he can burn off the skin and have only the bones remaining. Dahmer collects roadkill every night and does his regular routine. As he grows older, he starts trying to be "funny" by faking epileptic seizures in the hallway or acting like he is mentally disabled. For some odd reason, the kids at school think this is funny, and three boys become Dahmer's friends. They prompt Dahmer to perform more "pranks" which they end up calling "doing a Dahmer". His friends even start a Dahmer fan club. As even more time goes on, Dahmer's mental state worsens. He begins to have strong, murderous urges towards people and he starts drinking heavily and constantly to cope. Dahmer finally graduates high school towards the end of the movie. Dahmer lives all alone in his house at this point, becoming more and more psychotic every day. A few days before him and his friends leave for college, Dahmer is walking alone on the side of the road when his friend Derf pulls up next to him in a car. Derf drives Dahmer home, worried about Dahmer. Dahmer invites him inside for a beer, which Derf continually declines, but eventually goes inside anyway. He realizes that something isn't right, so he says he has to go because his mom would kill him if he was out for much longer. Derf quickly walks out to his car and tries to start it. The car won't start for a few moments, but when it does, Derf looks up and sees Dahmer outside the car with a baseball bat. Derf gets away, and that's the last he ever saw Dahmer. You can find out the ending of the movie by watching it yourself! This movie was very disturbing but also very interesting. It showed how the infamous serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer grew up. I liked the movie, but I was truly, truly disturbed. You don't want to believe that this really happened in real life. I think to truly understand this movie, you have to do a little research on Jeffrey Dahmer first. It was an okay movie with okay acting. I would give this movie a 6/10.
My movie for this week is Interview With the Vampire, one of my favorite movies. This movie stars Brad Pitt as Louis de Pointe du Luc and Tom Cruise as Lestat de Lioncourt. There are many other famous actors and actresses in this movie, such as Antonio Banderas, Kirsten Dunst, and Christian Slater. This movie is phenomenal from start to finish. It begins with the story of how Louis became a vampire in the year 1791. He had recently lost his wife and his child, so he was deeply depressed and was on the verge of suicide. One night, while Louis was out at a bar drinking his sorrows away, Lestat, a vampire, sees Louis and senses his sadness. Lestat then turns Louis into a vampire, which Louis ultimately ends up hating in the months that follow. The rest of the movie follows Louis and his trials and tribulations. Louis meets many other vampires, including a young girl who was also turned by Lestat during the plague in Europe. Louis always tried to get rid of Lestat because he is a horrible vampire with no remorse. This movie is filled with action and drama and I love it, but I feel like it is a love it or hate it kind of movie. As for me, I would give this movie a 9/10. It is truly a cinematic masterpiece.
