A few days ago I watched the movie Deadpool. It was hilarious. I will definitely have to add Deadpool to my list of favorite superheros. Deadpool stars Ryan Reynolds as the title character, Morena Baccarin as Copycat, and TJ Miller as Weasel. All of these characters are so funny. The storyline is great too. Deadpool started off as a sort of con man; doing odd jobs for people and getting their money back to them. Then, he finds out he has cancer. He leaves his girlfriend after getting an offer to become a superhero by an odd man he met at the bar. Deadpool is tortured at the place where he becomes a superhero, being mutated and left to die by his enemy. Deadpool escapes, and then begins his quest to get his face and body back to normal (at least, get his looks back to normal). He wants to look like his old self so his girlfriend will take him back. Finally, Deadpool tracks down his arch nemesis and almost kills him, but two x men show up. They want to know for the billionth time if Deadpool would like to be an x man. He says no, and because he was so caught up in the x men drama, his enemy escapes. Deciding it would be for the best, Deadpool tells the two x men that if they help him, he will consider joining their little squad. I won't spoil the rest of the movie for you. Like I said, this movie is hilarious and witty. It is a little graphic, so don't watch it with small children. Other than that, great comedy film. 7/10.

Heathers is one of my favorite classic movies. It stars Christian Slater and Winona Ryder as the two main characters. Ryder plays Veronica Sawyer, a teenage girl who hates her "popular" best friends who are called the Heathers (they are all named Heather). She really loathes them because they are careless, selfish people. But, having these friends is her own fault. She left her old friends for these mean girls, and this is something that she regrets every day. Then, one day at school, she catches the eye of a new student named Jason (J.D.) Dean. J.D. pulls an unloaded gun on two boys who are picking on him on his first day at school, which gets him suspended. For some reason, Veronica finds this charming (I have no idea why). Veronica and J.D. eventually get together as a couple much to the Heathers' dismay. This new relationship sparks a morbid series of events. Veronica is convinced by J.D. that they have to get rid of the Heathers. At first Veronica just wants them to suffer and she puts something in the most popular Heather's drink, telling her it's a hangover cure. What Veronica didn't know was that the stuff J.D. gave her to put in the drink was drain cleaner, and that it would kill Heather. Finding Heather dead and unsaveable, Veronica begins to freak out, claiming that she is now a murderer and that she didn't want this. J.D. convinces her to calm down, and they write a fake suicide note to make it seem like Heather took her own life. This is only the beginning of the murders committed by the couple. I won't give away what else happens in the movie. This film is morbid and filled with satire, and I really like it. The concept is a little dark but it truly is a funny movie, just see for yourself. I would give this movie a 7/10. It's on Netflix if you want to watch it!
About two weeks ago I went to see Infinity War. It was so amazing. I'm going to try and not give any spoilers here. I'll just go with the most basic plot line. So basically, all the marvel avengers movies have led to this. There is a big new villain, Thanos. He has been searching for the Infinity stones for years, which are the stones that support the universe. Without them, half of the planet would die. Thanos wants the infinity stones because he wants to control the universe, and he wants to get rid of half of the planet, which he calls a "cleansing". Thanos is the absolute worst, but hopefully Earth's mightiest heroes can get rid of him...or maybe they can't. I don't know how it ends;). I highly recommend seeing this movie. It's full of action, drama, and comedy. All of the classic characters are in it, making this a really exciting film to watch. I would give this movie a 9/10. It truly captured my attention the whole entire time and I enjoyed every second of it.
I'm just going to keep posting about classic movies. This one is Pretty in Pink. Pretty in pink is one of the most classic 80s movies. It stars the queen of teen films, Molly Ringwald, Jon Cryer as Duckie (my favorite character), and Andrew McCarthy as the main character's love interest. The film opens with eighteen year old Andie getting ready for school. She lets on to the fact that she typically makes her own clothes because of the low amount of money her small family (only Andie and her dad) makes. After forcing her dad to get up, Andie drives to school in her pink car. At school, she meets up with her best friend, Duckie. Duckie dresses very outlandish and different from the other boys in his school, but I think that makes him all the better. Duckie is in love with Andie, but he won't tell her out of fear that she won't return those feelings. Although I think it's kind of obvious that he likes her. He rides his bike past her house back and forth everyday for God's sake. Anyway, Andie has a huge crush on a popular boy (surprise surprise) named Blane. Now, in my opinion, Blane is as bland as a piece of white bread. He's the most typical popular boy you'll ever seen in a film. This makes me hate him. All I have to say is COME ON ANDIE.
All in all, this movie is the perfect classic teenage romance movie. It has a great soundtrack and pretty good characters (besides Blane). I would recommend this movie to basically anyone because it's hard not to at least enjoy it a little bit. I would give this movie a 7/10. My movie for this week is the cult classic, Sixteen Candles. This film stars Molly Ringwald, Anthony Michael Hall, and Michael Schoeffling. The plot starts out with Samantha Baker in her room on the telephone with her friend. Samantha complains to her friend about not looking any different from being fifteen years old. She brings this up because it's her sixteenth birthday. After hanging up with her friend, Sam goes downstairs, expecting to be flooded with happy birthdays. Instead, she gets nothing. Her family has forgotten her birthday. Sam goes to school, flustered with her life. In one of her classes, Sam is filling out a romantic survey for a girl in her school. Most of the questions are trying to get her to tell who she has a crush on. She finally puts down Jake Ryan, the most popular boy in school, and someone who already has a girlfriend. She drops the note on the ground, hoping that her friend picks it up. Her friend ends up never picking the note up, and the note falls into Jake Ryan's hands. After reading the note, Jake becomes interested in Samantha, asking around about her. I won't give the rest of the plot away, but I do have to say that this was a pretty cheesy movie. I still enjoyed it, though. It was a very classic John Hughes movie, much like his other work around that same time. It's a quick movie with an okay plot. I would give this movie a 6/10.
The Harry Potter book & movie series is my favorite series of all time. I'm such a huge fan. So why not do a review on the first movie, the one that started it all? Let's start at the beginning. Harry Potter is an eleven year old boy who lives with his aunt, his uncle, and his bully of a cousin, Dudley. They treat Harry as their servant. They even make him live under the staircase. One day, Harry receives a letter from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He doesn't get the chance to open it because his uncle rips it out of his hands and tears it up, telling him to never even think about the letter again. As the next week goes by, owls deliver more and more letters exactly like the one that Harry had received. They are all addressed to Harry Potter. His aunt and uncle get so tired of the letters that they leave and go to a vacant house in the middle of a body of water. They lock the doors and turn all the lights out. Then, a giant man named Hagrid breaks down the door and asks for Harry Potter. Much to the Dursleys anger, Hagrid informs Harry that he is a wizard, hence why he has been getting all those letters. Hagrid takes Harry to Diagon Alley, and then eventually Harry goes to Hogwarts to start his first year. All of the students and staff tell him he is famous, that he is the boy who lived. Harry soon finds out that his parents were killed by the evil wizard Voldemort, and that Voldemort had tried to kill him too, but he miraculously survived. As the movie goes on, we see how Harry goes through his first year of school and how he handles the hardships he is faced with. I really love this movie so much. I'm a huge fan of the books, like I said. The magical world JK Rowling has made is so amazing. I would have to give this movie a 10/10 just because I'm a huge fan. I definitely recommend this to people who like the fantasy genre.
My movie review for this week will be the film Lady Bird, starring Saoirse Ronan, Laurie Metcalf, Timothee Chalamet and many more. The movie centers around Christine "Lady Bird" McPherson, a senior in high school who is planning her future during the year 2002. Lady Bird's family isn't wealthy like the other families around them, which is hard for Lady Bird to take into consideration when she is applying to colleges out of state. She dreams of getting out of her hometown of Sacramento, California and going to New York City for college. Her mother is totally against the idea of her leaving and of spending a lot of money for her to go to college. Lady Bird goes to a Catholic high school in Sacramento. She disagrees with the school's message but still befriends a nun during her senior year. Lady Bird makes a lot of friends and loses a lot of friends during her senior year. The movie shows the normal everyday struggles of a teenage girl. I found Lady Bird to be a very relatable character and I loved her. I would recommend this movie to anyone because it is such a fun movie. I would give this movie an 8/10.
My Friend Dahmer is a film adaptation of the comic book styled novel of the same name, starring Ross Lynch as Jeffrey Dahmer and Alex Wolff as his high school friend, Derf. This movie is a true story told by Derf. He recounts the times he spent with Dahmer and how he acted throughout high school and before he killed seventeen people. The movie begins with Dahmer watching a jogger intensely through a bus window on his way home from school. When he gets home from school every day, he goes into his family's shed which he calls "the lab" and dissects animals, often putting roadkill in acid so he can burn off the skin and have only the bones remaining. Dahmer collects roadkill every night and does his regular routine. As he grows older, he starts trying to be "funny" by faking epileptic seizures in the hallway or acting like he is mentally disabled. For some odd reason, the kids at school think this is funny, and three boys become Dahmer's friends. They prompt Dahmer to perform more "pranks" which they end up calling "doing a Dahmer". His friends even start a Dahmer fan club. As even more time goes on, Dahmer's mental state worsens. He begins to have strong, murderous urges towards people and he starts drinking heavily and constantly to cope. Dahmer finally graduates high school towards the end of the movie. Dahmer lives all alone in his house at this point, becoming more and more psychotic every day. A few days before him and his friends leave for college, Dahmer is walking alone on the side of the road when his friend Derf pulls up next to him in a car. Derf drives Dahmer home, worried about Dahmer. Dahmer invites him inside for a beer, which Derf continually declines, but eventually goes inside anyway. He realizes that something isn't right, so he says he has to go because his mom would kill him if he was out for much longer. Derf quickly walks out to his car and tries to start it. The car won't start for a few moments, but when it does, Derf looks up and sees Dahmer outside the car with a baseball bat. Derf gets away, and that's the last he ever saw Dahmer. You can find out the ending of the movie by watching it yourself! This movie was very disturbing but also very interesting. It showed how the infamous serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer grew up. I liked the movie, but I was truly, truly disturbed. You don't want to believe that this really happened in real life. I think to truly understand this movie, you have to do a little research on Jeffrey Dahmer first. It was an okay movie with okay acting. I would give this movie a 6/10.
My movie for this week is Interview With the Vampire, one of my favorite movies. This movie stars Brad Pitt as Louis de Pointe du Luc and Tom Cruise as Lestat de Lioncourt. There are many other famous actors and actresses in this movie, such as Antonio Banderas, Kirsten Dunst, and Christian Slater. This movie is phenomenal from start to finish. It begins with the story of how Louis became a vampire in the year 1791. He had recently lost his wife and his child, so he was deeply depressed and was on the verge of suicide. One night, while Louis was out at a bar drinking his sorrows away, Lestat, a vampire, sees Louis and senses his sadness. Lestat then turns Louis into a vampire, which Louis ultimately ends up hating in the months that follow. The rest of the movie follows Louis and his trials and tribulations. Louis meets many other vampires, including a young girl who was also turned by Lestat during the plague in Europe. Louis always tried to get rid of Lestat because he is a horrible vampire with no remorse. This movie is filled with action and drama and I love it, but I feel like it is a love it or hate it kind of movie. As for me, I would give this movie a 9/10. It is truly a cinematic masterpiece.
Donnie Darko was a very good movie. Known as a cult classic made in 2001, the movie wasn't all too successful in the beginning. The advertisement for the movie that was to be released a few weeks before the movie came out featured a plane crashing, and because of 9/11 happening around that time, the ad was never released and the movie wasn't well known. In the years leading up to present day, Donnie Darko has become more and more successful every year. The movie centers around a high-school age boy named Donnie Darko who has schizophrenia. He has recently been having hallucinations of a man in a bunny suit named Frank who has told him that the world is going to end in 28 days, 6 hours, 42 minutes, and 12 seconds. Donnie just brushes this off at first, but things get worse throughout the whole movie. There is a theme of time travel through the whole movie that ends up being important in the end. This movie is really creepy, but I loved it. It was a good kind of creepy. I would give this movie a 7/10.
